Hello Fans,
Being an Elvis fan from Day One, I've seen a vast number of Elvis Tribute Artists, from Texas to Tennessee, and I've met a lot of people who worked with Elvis. I have successfully run Elvis’ Angels Fan Club since August 1997, the largest Elvis fan club in Louisiana, officially licensed through Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. For 12 years, I worked in the music industry doing copyrights, contracts for artists and writers, and licensing songs from publishers for cassettes and CDs.
When I watch tribute artists, I look for voice quality, looks, stage presence and costume quality. If I can close my eyes and hear a voice that sounds a lot like Elvis – I’m interested. There is only ONE ELVIS, but thank goodness for the tribute artists like Richard Cook who keep Elvis' memory alive through their shows.
I first met Richard in 1997 when he entered an impersonator contest I held at James Burton’s Rock ‘n Roll Café in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was a very nice young man who appeared to be a genuine Elvis fan with a desire to give his very best to honor Elvis with his performance. We became good friends and through the years I have had the pleasure of working with Richard for a number of gigs including several performances for the Elvis’ Angels Fan Club’s “Visions of the King-Show of Champions." Richard has always been willing to perform, pay or no pay, and is a true champion to Elvis fans when he sings songs from all eras - “early Elvis”, the ’68 Special and the 70’s. He has a great voice that will make you ask yourself if you are listening to Elvis or Richard.
After seeing Richard perform a 3-hour show at Joey’s ’57 Chevy Café in Shreveport, I felt Richard had “paid his dues” and his performance was first rate. It was time for Richard to have a fan club! The club was formed on September 5, 2006, and thanks to “Cook’s Crew,” we are building a following for a very deserving entertainer. Richard is a down-to-earth, easy-going person who always makes a point to give his audiences 110%. He nicknamed me “Ms. Col. Parker” because of the gigs I got him through the years.
I invite you to join the fan club and come out and enjoy Richard's performances.
Sincerely,
Dianne Patrick, President
